Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 (5-pound) whole chicken giblets removed
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 4 sprigs fresh oregano

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting Board

Method

  1. Begin by removing the giblets from the chicken cavity if they are included. Rinse the chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the avocado oil, poultry seasoning, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and ground black pepper. Rub this mixture generously all over the chicken.
  3. Place the fresh thyme and oregano sprigs inside the chicken cavity.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Carefully place the seasoned chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket. Cook for 30 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 25-30 minutes.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked through, let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add garlic powder.
  • Use lemon slices in the cavity for a citrusy touch.
  • Smoked paprika adds a nice smokiness.
