Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 pound bell peppers or chilies cut into 1/2-inch slices or left whole
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil only if slicing the peppers; omit for whole peppers
  • to taste Salt and freshly ground pepper omit for whole peppers

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl

Method

Instructions
  1. Start by washing your bell peppers or chilies thoroughly. Remove the seeds and stems if necessary, then slice them into 1/2-inch thick slices. If you prefer to cook them whole, feel free to skip this step.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced peppers with olive oil, salt, and freshly ground pepper. Toss until all the pieces are evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This step ensures that your peppers cook evenly and get that desirable char.
  4. Place the seasoned sliced peppers in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Make sure not to overcrowd the basket; you may need to cook them in batches if you have a lot.
  5. Air fry the peppers for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even cooking. Keep an eye on them, as cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model and the thickness of the slices.
  6. Once the peppers are tender and slightly charred, remove them from the air fryer. Serve immediately as a side dish, or incorporate them into your favorite recipes!

Notes

  • Store leftover peppers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • To reheat, place the peppers back in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  • For a smoky flavor, add a sprinkle of smoked paprika before air frying.
