Remember when I posted that thick-sliced, hickory smoked Farmland bacon on Instagram yesterday? Well I had big plans for this bacon. B-I-G plans.

See, I’ve been dreaming about these BLAT hot dogs ever since I saw them on Taste and Tell. It combines all of my favorite ingredients into one glorious hot – bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato. It’s the classic BLT-style hot dog with avocado because, well, AVOCADO just makes everything better.

Best of all, it’s one of those recipes that comes together so quickly on those busy weeknights, which are much needed, especially with the kids back in school! Just be sure to double the recipe when you decide to make this because I guarantee you that everyone will want seconds!

Recipe

Yield: 4 servings
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Total: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 6 hot dogs
  • 6 hot dog buns
  • ¼ cup homemade Ranch
  • 1 cup shredded Romaine lettuce
  • 1 Roma tomato, diced
  • 1 avocado, halved, seeded, peeled and diced
  • Instructions

    1. Preheat grill to medium high heat.
    2. Wrap each hot dog in a strip of bacon. Add the hot dogs to the grill and cook until the bacon is brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
    3. To assemble the hot dogs, add hot dogs into each hot dog bun, top with Ranch, lettuce, tomato and avocado.
    4. Serve immediately.
